Lima (Callao) Cruises Destination Information

The Stunning Main Port of Lima (Callao)

Located in the valleys of the Chillon, Rimac and Lurin rivers, Lima is the capital and largest city of Peru. Together with the seaport of Callao, it forms a contiguous urban area known as the Lima Metropolitan Area.

Jorge Chavez International Airport, the largest airport of the country, located in Callao. Lima is connected by highway to every country that borders Peru, because of its location on the country’s central coast. The proximity of Lima to the port of Callao allows Callao to act as the metropolitan area's foremost port. A rail line connects Lima to the Central Andean region. Taxis in the city are relatively cheap.

Places to visit:
• The Historic Center of Lima
• the Cathedral of Lima and the Monastery of San Francisco
• the Sanctuary of Las Nazarenas
• Lima City Walls
• Cieneguilla and Chosica

Lima’s climate is mild and comfortable, despite being located in the tropics and in a desert. Lima's proximity to the cool waters of the Pacific Ocean leads to temperatures much cooler than those expected for a subtropical desert. Temperatures rarely fall below 12 °C or rise above 30 °C throughout the entire year. The whole year is a wonderful cruise time.
