Located at the southwestern tip of the Kyushu Island of Japan, Kagoshima is the largest city in the prefecture by some margin. Kagoshima has bay location, hot climate and impressive Sakurajima Volcano, so it has been nicknamed the “ Naples of the Eastern world”.
Kagoshima has very convenient transport with four lines railway, two lines tramway and many highways. If you want to visit the nearby islands, ferry and jetfoil are available. Kagoshima Airport is in Kirishima, only 35km northeast of Kagoshima.

Kagoshima has a humid subtropical climate. Winters are very cool and relatively dry, while springs, summers and falls are wet. Spring is warm and summer is hot.
